FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR NORTHERN LOWER MICHIGAN
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE GAYLORD MI
323 PM EDT TUE MAY 24 2016

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT THROUGH 8 PM THIS EVENING...

.DISCUSSION...

TEMPERATURES HAVE SURGED INTO THE 80S AND EVEN A FEW SPOTS IN THE
LOWER 90S AWAY FROM THE GREAT LAKES SHORELINES THIS AFTERNOON. IN ADDITION...
MANY LOCATIONS HAVE SEEN RH VALUES DROP TO BELOW CRITICAL THRESHOLDS WHILE
WINDS HAVE CONTINUED TO BE RATHER GUSTY AT TIMES. THUS...THE ONGOING RED
FLAG WARNING SEEMS TO BE ON TRACK THROUGH THE EVENING HOURS.

RATHER SIGNIFICANT RECOVERY IS EXPECTED WITH THE ARRIVAL OF BETTER MOISTURE
ASSOCIATED WITH AN APPROACHING COLD FRONT. WHILE THE RECENT DRY CONDITIONS ARE
EXPECTED TO PREVENT PRECIPITATION FROM BEING WIDESPREAD TONIGHT...IT APPEARS
THIS WILL BE THE TRANSITION TO A MUCH MORE HUMID PATTER FOR THE REMAINDER OF
THE WEEK.
