Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Northern Alabama
National Weather Service Huntsville AL
228 AM CST Tue Feb 20 2018

.DISCUSSION...

Record breaking warm temperatures are expected again today and
possibly on Wednesday as southerly flow persists across the region.
A weak upper level disturbance may bring a few light showers or
sprinkles tonight and early Wednesday. Then a cold front will
approach northwest Alabama and middle Tennessee late Wednesday
into Thursday. The front will stall just to the northwest, but
will produce areas of showers and perhaps a few thunderstorms,
mainly for areas of far northwest Alabama. The warm weather will
continue into Saturday before a strong cold front will sweep
through the region. This front will bring a round of thunderstorms
which could be strong.

With the southerly flow, afternoon peak mixing heights will
reach 4500-6000 ft agl today and Wednesday. Fair to good smoke
dispersion is expected. Transport winds of 15-30 mph are forecast
today into Wednesday.

Fog potential over the next few days: Fog is not anticipated.

Potential for Red Flag Conditions: Red Flag conditions are not
anticipated over the next several days.
