FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR THE MIDSOUTH
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MEMPHIS TN
310 PM CST TUE MAR 3 2015

.DISCUSSION...

A WARM FRONT WILL LIFT NORTH OF THE MID SOUTH BY LATER THIS
EVENING. SCATTERED SHOWERS AND A FEW THUNDERSTORMS WILL OCCUR
TONIGHT TO THE SOUTH OF THE FRONT.

A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL THEN MOVE BACK SOUTH ACROSS THE
REGION ON WEDNESDAY. IN ADDITION...AN ELONGATED UPPER LEVEL
TROUGH WILL APPROACH FROM THE WEST AND HELP TO INCREASE
PRECIPITATION CHANCES...ESPECIALLY ALONG AND NORTH OF THE
FRONT. AS MUCH COLDER AIR FILTERS SOUTH BEHIND THE FRONT...
RAIN WILL GRADUALLY TRANSITION TO FREEZING RAIN...THEN SLEET...
AND EVENTUALLY SNOW. THIS TRANSITION WILL OCCUR ACROSS NORTHERN
PORTIONS OF THE MID SOUTH WEDNESDAY MORNING...ALONG THE INTERSTATE
40 CORRIDOR LATE WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON...AND ACROSS THE REMAINDER
OF NORTH MISSISSIPPI WEDNESDAY NIGHT. SIGNIFICANT WINTER WEATHER
ACCUMULATIONS ARE ANTICIPATED ACROSS A LARGE MAJORITY OF THE AREA.

ANY SNOW SHOULD COME TO AN END BY THURSDAY EVENING AS HIGH PRESSURE
BUILDS INTO THE REGION. DRY BUT VERY COLD TEMPERATURES WILL
PERSIST THROUGH THE END OF THIS WEEK.

WARMER WEATHER IS EXPECTED EARLY NEXT WEEK ALONG WITH OUR NEXT
CHANCES FOR RAINFALL.
