FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR SOUTHWEST AND SOUTH-CENTRAL
ARIZONA AND SOUTHEAST CALIFORNIA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PHOENIX AZ
138 PM MST THU APR 17 2014

.DISCUSSION...
A PACIFIC LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL BRING INCREASING MOISTURE
ALONG WITH COOLER CONDITIONS TO THE DESERT SOUTHWEST FRIDAY. GIVEN THE DRY
CONDITIONS AT THE SURFACE...THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR VIRGA WITH
LOCALIZED DOWNBURSTS AND FIRE DANGER WILL BE ENHANCED IN THESE
AREAS. WIDESPREAD CRITICAL THRESHOLDS SHOULD NOT BE REALIZED HOWEVER
AND RECOVERIES FRIDAY NIGHT WILL BE GOOD. ISOLATED SHOWERS AND EVEN
THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE SATURDAY AFTERNOON AS THE ATMOSPHERE
BECOMES INCREASINGLY UNSTABLE. HOWEVER...RAIN CHANCES WILL GENERALLY
REMAIN CONFINED TO THE AREAS NORTH AND EAST OF PHOENIX.

...THUNDERSTORMS IMPLY GUSTY WINDS...

NOTE...ADDITIONAL FIRE WEATHER FORECAST INFORMATION CAN BE FOUND
IN THE AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION. SEE PRODUCT PHXAFDPSR.
