SPOT FORECAST FOR SRS COMP 2...USDA FOREST SERVICE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE COLUMBIA, SC
831 AM EDT TUE AUG 30 2016

FORECAST IS BASED ON IGNITION TIME OF 0900 EDT ON AUGUST 30.
IF CONDITIONS BECOME UNREPRESENTATIVE...CONTACT THE NATIONAL WEATHER
SERVICE.

.DISCUSSION...A FEW LIGHT SHOWERS WILL MOVE ACROSS THE AREA THIS
MORNING IN RESPONSE TO A WEAK UPPER LEVEL SHORT WAVE. GIVEN
THE LATEST RADAR RETURNS...A FEW SPRINKLES MAY BE POSSIBLE AT
THE BURN SITE OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF HOURS BUT FOR THE MOST
PART SHOULD REMAIN DRY. AN UPPER-LEVEL TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE
REMAINS JUST OFF THE SOUTH CAROLINA/GEORGIA COAST. A FEW SHOWERS
POSSIBLE LATER THIS MORNING WITH GENERALLY A SLIGHT CHANCE OF
SHOWERS/THUNDERSTORMS DURING THE AFTERNOON. POOR DISPERSION
WILL CONTINUE EACH MORNING WITH A GENERALLY WEAK
PRESSURE GRADIENT. SOME CLOUDINESS TOGETHER WITH MINIMAL RADIATIONAL
COOLING WILL FAVOR ONLY PATCHY LIGHT FOG EACH MORNING...DESPITE GOOD
LOW-LEVEL MOISTURE.

SURFACE WINDS WILL BE FROM THE NORTH-NORTHEAST LESS THAN
5 MPH...THEN BECOME EAST-NORTHEAST AT 5 TO 10 MPH
BY AFTERNOON. TRANSPORT WINDS WILL INCREASE TO 10 TO 15 MPH.
RELATIVE HUMIDITIES WILL DROP TO NEAR 50 PERCENT.

POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE FEEDBACK INCLUDING OBSERVATIONS TAKEN AT
THE BURN SITE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. YOU CAN USE THE SAME
WEBPAGE WHERE YOU REQUESTED THE SPOT FORECAST FOR THIS. YOU MAY
ALSO CALL OUR OFFICE IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS. HYSPLIT
OUTPUT HEIGHTS FOR THE NWS COLUMBIA AREA ARE 300, 750 AND 1500 METERS.
THESE VALUES ARE DIFFERENT THAN SURROUNDING OFFICES.
