...NWS DAMAGE SURVEY FOR 06/16/17 THUNDERSTORM WIND EVENT...

.OVERVIEW...SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOPED IN SOUTHEAST NEBRASKA
AND MOVED INTO SOUTHWEST IOWA DURING THE EVENING. THE STORMS
PRODUCED DAMAGING WIND GUSTS IN TAYLOR COUNTY THAT CAUSED PROPERTY
DAMAGE TO NUMEROUS PROPERTIES ALONG HIGHWAY 2 AND A CAMPGROUND AT
WINDMILL LAKE.

END TIME: 0942 PM CDT
END LOCATION: ACROSS TAYLOR COUNTY

SURVEY SUMMARY: A COMPLEX OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS MOVED ACROSS
TAYLOR COUNTY PRODUCING DAMAGING WINDS BETWEEN 75 AND 90 MPH.
ALONG HIGHWAY 2 THERE WERE NUMEROUS REPORTS OF TREE TRUNKS
SNAPPED...LARGE LIMBS DOWNED, AND DAMAGE TO ROOFS AND OUT
BUILDINGS. GRAIN BINS WERE ALSO DAMAGED. AT A CAMPGROUND AT
WINDMILL LAKE A COUPLE OF UNSECURED CAMPER TRAILERS WERE BLOWN
FROM THEIR CAMP SITE INTO THE LAKE. THERE WAS ONE REPORTED INJURY.
