...CLIMATE SERVICES TO EXPAND FOR LUMBERTON, NC AS RECORDS ARE
EXTENDED BACK TO 1903...

Beginning Tuesday, March 20, 2018, the National Weather Service
forecast office in Wilmington, NC will begin issuing Record Event
Reports for Lumberton, NC (KLBT) whenever daily high temperature,
low temperature, or maximum rainfall records are tied or broken
at the Lumberton airport. The product headers for this new report
are:

WMO header: SXUS72 KILM
AWIPS identifier: RERLBT

A recently completed project by the National Climatic Data Center
(NCDC) has threaded data from the Lumberton, NC airport with data
from an historic National Weather Service cooperative observer
station in Lumberton. The Lumberton airport began collecting
temperature and precipitation data in 2000, but cooperative
station observations date back to 1903. Merging these two datasets
has resulted in a nearly-continuous 115 year period of record for
Lumberton.

Daily normal and record values for high temperature, low
temperature, and rainfall in Lumberton, NC will be made available on
the climate section our website at http://weather.gov/ilm
