GRASS FIRE DANGER STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FORT WORTH TX
602 AM CST SUN JAN 22 2017

...ELEVATED GRASS FIRE THREAT WEST OF I-35 THROUGH EARLY
EVENING...

GUSTY NORTHWEST WINDS 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 40 MPH ALONG WITH
DRIER AIR MOVING IN WILL RESULT IN AN INCREASED THREAT FOR GRASS
FIRES ACROSS PARTS OF NORTH TEXAS. AREAS WITH EXTENSIVE FINE DEAD
FUELS WILL BE SUSCEPTIBLE TO BURNING. EXPLOSIVE FIRE GROWTH IS NOT
EXPECTED GIVEN THAT HUMIDITY WILL ONLY DROP TO AROUND 30% AND
SURFACE MOISTURE WILL REMAIN RELATIVELY HIGH OUTSIDE OF FINE DEAD
FUELS.

EXTREME CARE IS URGED DURING ALL OUTSIDE ACTIVITIES WHERE THERE
IS A POTENTIAL FOR GRASS FIRES TO GET STARTED. AVOID OUTSIDE
BURNING AND WELDING. DO NOT TOSS LIT CIGARETTE BUTTS OUTSIDE.
REPORT WILD FIRES TO THE NEAREST FIRE DEPARTMENT OR LAW
ENFORCEMENT OFFICE QUICKLY.
