RANGELAND FIRE DANGER STATEMENT

.DISCUSSION...Isolated showers will continue to diminish this
morning, with most areas remaining dry. Temperatures today will
be a little cooler, with readings mainly in the 80s. Minimum
relative humidity values will range from 25 percent across
northwestern South Dakota to around 40 percent across south
central South Dakota. Winds will mainly be light from the east.
Chances for showers and thunderstorms will increase for Thursday
and Friday, with seasonal temperatures.

...High Fire Danger...

The grassland fire danger index will reach the high category this
afternoon. Unfavorable weather conditions or a low moisture
content of grasses, and other dry organic material on the ground,
indicate that there is a moderate to high potential for a fire
occurrence. Outdoor burning should be restricted to early morning
or evening hours when wind speeds are usually lower and the
relative humidity is higher.

The outlook for Thursday afternoon, The grassland fire danger
index will reach the high category to very high category.

this afternoon. Marginal weather conditions or a lowering
moisture content of grasses, and other dry organic material on
the ground, indicate that there is some potential for a fire
occurrence. Do not leave outdoor fires unattended under these
conditions.

index will reach the high category.
