DAILY RIVER AND LAKE SUMMARY
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TAUNTON MA
122 PM EDT Fri Jun 23 2017

Mild and humid air will build across Southern New England today into
tonight out ahead of an approaching cold front from the west and the
remnants of tropical storm Cindy streaming our way from the
southwest.

Today will remain mostly cloudy with southwest winds blowing 10 to
20 mph and gusting to 30 mph. Afternoon temperatures will warm into
the 80s across the interior, with 70s across the south coast, Cape
and islands. Showers are possible today but overall it will be a dry
day.

The chance for showers will continue tonight along with the
southwest winds. It will be warm and muggy with temperatures only
falling back into the mid 60s to low 70s.

As the cold front from the west and the remnants of Cindy merge late
tonight just to our southwest, there is the threat of heavy rain
Saturday morning, especially across the southeast.

The cold front will sweep the remnants of Cindy out to sea Saturday
afternoon, afterwhich winds will begin to shift out of the west and
escort drier and less humid air into the region. Highs Saturday
afternoon will top out in the mid 70s to low 80s which is seasonable
for this time of year. Slightly cooler temperatures are forecast for
the Cape and islands where highs will be in the upper 60s to low 70s.

Sunday will be the pick of the weekend as it promises to be dry with
afternoon temperatures warming into the upper 70s to mid 80s.

Despite the expected rain, area main stem river levels will remain
nearly stationary through Sunday.

These forecasts include 24 hour precipitation for the period ending
at 7 am today, and forecast precipitation through 7 am tomorrow.
