URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...Significant icing across the Big Country this Morning...

.With temperatures well below freezing and moderate precipitation
to occur into the afternoon hours, significant ice accumulation
will be possible across the Big Country. This will include
Sweetwater, Abilene, and Interstate-20.

...ICE STORM WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM CST THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Freezing rain. Ice accumulations of around a quarter
  inch.

* WHERE...The entire Big Country. This includes Abilene,
  Sweetwater, and the I-20 corridor.

* WHEN...Through 6 PM Wednesday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Ice will accumulate on roadways and may
  become dangerously icy. Travel is discouraged. Sidewalks and
  outside stairwells may become slick. Ice will accumulate heavily
  on trees and power lines. Power outages becomes a possibility.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

An Ice Storm Warning means severe winter weather conditions are
expected or occurring. Significant amounts of ice accumulations
will make travel dangerous or impossible. Travel is strongly
discouraged. Commerce will likely be severely impacted. If you
must travel...keep an extra flashlight...food...and water in your
vehicle in case of an emergency. Ice accumulations and winds will
likely lead to snapped power lines and falling tree branches that
add to the danger.

EVENING...

* WHAT...Freezing rain. Ice accumulations of one tenth to one
  quarter of an inch.

* WHERE...Locations along and north of a line from Mertzon, to
  Eden, to Brownwood. This includes San Angelo and Brownwood.

* WHEN...Through 6 PM Wednesday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Ice will accumulate on elevated surfaces
  such has bridges and overpasses. Sidewalks and outside
  stairwells may become slick.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Weather Advisory for freezing rain means periods of
freezing rain are imminent or occurring. freezing rain may cause
driving to become extremely dangerous...so be prepared to use
caution when traveling.
