...FLOOD ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 130 AM EDT WEDNESDAY...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...Portions of central, east central, south central, and
  southeast Virginia, including the following counties and
  independent cities, in central Virginia, Amelia, Chesterfield and
  City of Colonial Heights. In east central Virginia, Charles City.
  In south central Virginia, City of Hopewell, City of Petersburg,
  Dinwiddie, Nottoway and Prince George. In southeast Virginia,
  James City, Surry and Sussex.

* WHEN...Until 130 AM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
  Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is
  imminent.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 1059 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
    indicated heavy rain. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected
    to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1.5 and 3
    inches of rain have fallen.
  - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected
    over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
    flooding.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Petersburg, Hopewell, Colonial Heights, Williamsburg,
    Claremont, Surry, Fort Gregg-Adams, Virginia State
    University, Chester, Disputanta, Moseley, Mannboro, Prince
    George, Dendron, Ettrick, Matoaca, Jordans Point, Bellwood,
    Sutherland and Chesterfield Court House.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding. Do not stay in areas subject to flooding when
water begins rising.
