THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR PORTIONS OF CENTRAL...SOUTH
CENTRAL...SOUTHWEST AND WEST CENTRAL KANSAS.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.

DAY 1 DISCUSSION

STRONG NORTHWEST WINDS ARE EXPECTED TODAY, AVERAGING 20 TO 30 MPH
WITH GUSTS OF 35 TO 40 MPH. THE STRONGEST WINDS ARE EXPECTED
NORTH AND WEST OF DODGE CITY. THESE WINDS WILL COMBINE WITH VERY
DRY AIR AND ABUNDANT DRY GRASSES TO CREATE AN ELEVATED RISK FOR
WILDFIRE SPREAD. TEMPERATURES WILL BE COOLER TODAY COMPARED TO
RECENT DAYS, WHICH WILL HELP LIMIT THE THREAT.

DAYS 2-7 DISCUSSION

NORTHWEST WINDS WILL CONTINUE ON WEDNESDAY FOR ANOTHER RISK FOR
WILDFIRE SPREAD. MUCH LIGHTER WINDS ARE EXPECTED ON THURSDAY.
A STORM SYSTEM PASSING SOUTH OF SOUTHWEST KANSAS MAY BRING SOME
LIGHT RAIN AND/OR SNOW TO SOUTHERN AND SOUTHEAST COUNTIES FRIDAY
NIGHT AND SATURDAY. AMOUNTS WILL BE LIGHT, AND IMPACTS ARE
EXPECTED TO BE MINIMAL.

ANOTHER ROUND OF CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE POSSIBLE
NEXT MONDAY.
