...NWS DAMAGE SURVEY FOR 5/16/2017 TORNADO EVENT...

.OVERVIEW...Supercell thunderstorms developed during the afternoon hours on 16 May and produced
hail up to three inches in diameter and two tornadoes in southwest Kansas.

This was a weak, narrow tornado followed by very strong rear flank downdraft winds.

End location:           2 NW Hoisington/Barton County

Initially this tornado started east of Larned in Pawnee County and tracked five miles
northeast. This tornado continued to track 22 miles in Barton County. EF-3 damage
was found west and northwest of the Great Bend airport. Pawnee Rock received
EF-2 damage.
