Regional Weather Summary for Western Kansas

Widespread rain with a few embedded thunderstorms moved northeast
across western Kansas during the overnight hours. There were many
reports of between one to two inches of rain as of 8 am this
morning. The highest reported amount was 1.90 inches south of
Meade. Rain was still falling at mid morning east of Highway 25.
Winds were out of the east-northeast at 15 to 25 mph. Low
temperatures were mainly in the low to mid 40s.
A developing upper level low will move slowly across western
Kansas tonight and will be over south central Nebraska and north
central Kansas by early Saturday afternoon. Surface low pressure
in west Texas is expected to move into eastern Kansas by late
tonight. Rain with embedded thunderstorms that extended from
western and central Kansas into northwestern Oklahoma late this
morning will continue to move northeast this afternoon and
tonight. The rain will begin to taper off in the southwest this
afternoon and tonight. Temperatures will be on the cool side this
afternoon across most of the west.
High temperatures this afternoon will range from the low to mid
40s in the western portions of Kansas and Nebraska and parts of
eastern Colorado to the lower 70s in central Oklahoma. Lows
tonight will range from the mid and upper 30s in the Western High
Plains to the lower and mid 50s in far eastern Kansas.
