Today was a fairly typical early July day across western Kansas with
highs ranging from 91 at Pratt to 97 at Garden City, Hays, and
Liberal. This values are near to slightly above normal for the 5th
of July. A cumulus field started to develop across far southwest
Kansas during the afternoon. A few of these clouds evolved into very
weak thunderstorms across From Elkhart to Cimarron. These storms
quickly dissipated towards mid evening without significant sensible
weather impacts.

As far as the forecast is concerned, a tranquil overnight period is
expected with a few stray cirriform clouds, but no precipitation.
Overnight lows are expected to range from the mid 60s across
west-central Kansas to low 70s across south-central Kansas.

For Sunday, a hot day is expected with highs in the upper 90s with a
few locations reaching 100. A lee surface trough will continue
across the region with a minor wind shift associated with it.
