...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 600 PM EDT
FOR ANSON...SOUTHERN MONTGOMERY...WESTERN RICHMOND AND STANLY
COUNTIES...

At 526 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm extending from 6 miles east of
Albemarle to 9 miles east of Ansonville to 7 miles southwest of
Wadesboro, moving east at 40 mph.

HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Law enforcement reported widespread trees down and
         power outages between the cities of Locust and Albemarle.

IMPACT...Expect considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely
         to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings. Hail damage to
         vehicles is expected.

Locations impacted include...
Albemarle, Rockingham, Wadesboro, Troy, Badin Lake, Ansonville,
Plyler, Polkton, Norwood, and Badin.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

Straight line winds can blow down trees, power lines, and damage
mobile homes and other buildings. Seek shelter in a sturdy structure
until the storm has passed. Stay away from windows as flying debris
generated by damaging winds can be deadly.

This is a DANGEROUS SITUATION. These storms are producing widespread
wind damage across Stanly and Anson counties. SEEK SHELTER NOW
inside a sturdy structure and stay away from windows.

They will send your report to the National Weather Service office in
Raleigh.
