...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 645 PM CDT THIS
EVENING FOR SOUTHEASTERN SAN SABA COUNTY...

At 512 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
thunderstorms have moves east of San Saba County. Between 4 and 6
inches of rain have fallen. Flooding impacts will continue, but no
additional rainfall is expected. Flash flooding is already
occurring. Look out for flooding along Cherokee Creek from north of
Cherokee along highway 16 to Chappel this evening.

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
         flash flooding.

SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
         urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Cherokee, Chappel, Bend and Us-190 Near The San Saba-Lampasas
  County Line.

This includes the following Low Water Crossings...
CR 424 crossing Rough Creek, County Road 343 crossing Cherokee Creek
and County Road 432 crossing Cherokee Creek.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.

Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where
you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become
killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or
creeks.
