550 FZCA72 TJSJ 010641 MWSSJU Marine Weather Statement National Weather Service San Juan PR 241 AM AST Wed May 1 2024 AMZ733-735-741-011100- Caribbean waters of Puerto Rico from 10 NM to 17N, including the coastal waters of Saint Croix- Coastal Waters of Southern Puerto Rico out 10 NM- Mona Passage Southward to 17N- 241 AM AST Wed May 1 2024 ...THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOPING OVER THE CARIBBEAN WATERS... At 230 AM AST, the Doppler radar indicated a cluster of strong thunderstorms redeveloping across the offshore Caribbean waters, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots. Additional thunderstorms were developing over the coastal Caribbean waters of Puerto Rico, about 10 NM south of Salinas. These thunderstorms were moving west-northwest at 20 knots. At least through the rest of the morning hours, thunderstorms can develop across the Caribbean waters and the Mona Passage. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until this storm passes. $$
