...HIGH SURF ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT PDT TONIGHT...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SEATTLE HAS ISSUED A HIGH SURF
ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT PDT TONIGHT.

* TIMING...THROUGH MIDNIGHT PDT.

* SEAS...AN EARLY SEASON WESTERLY SWELL TRAIN OF 15 TO 17 FEET
  WITH A DOMINATE PERIOD OF 17 SECONDS WILL IMPACT THE COAST
  THROUGH THIS EVENING. SWELL WILL BEGIN TO SLOWLY SUBSIDE AFTER
  MIDNIGHT.

* IMPACTS...IT WILL BE DANGEROUS TO OBSERVE WAVES FROM
  ROCKS...JETTIES...OR BREAKWATERS. THE WAVES REACHING THE BEACHES
  WILL HAVE A LOT OF ENERGY. THIS MEANS WAVES CAN SUDDENLY RACE
  FARTHER UP THE BEACH THAN NORMAL...POSING THE RISK OF A PERSON
  BEING SWEPT OUT TO SEA.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A HIGH SURF ADVISORY MEANS THAT HIGH SURF WILL AFFECT BEACHES IN
THE ADVISORY AREA...PRODUCING RIP CURRENTS AND LOCALIZED BEACH
EROSION.
