.JANUARY 2016 WAS WARMER AND WETTER THAN NORMAL AT DULUTH MN...

THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR JANUARY WAS 12.8 DEGREES WHICH WAS 2.6
DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 10.2 DEGREES MAKING THIS THE 33RD
WARMEST JANUARY IN STATION HISTORY. THE HIGHEST TEMPERATURE FOR THE
MONTH WAS 41 DEGREES ON THE 30TH. THE LOWEST TEMPERATURE WAS -21
DEGREES ON THE 11TH AND THE 17TH. NO DAILY TEMPERATURE RECORDS WERE
BROKEN FOR THE MONTH. TEN DAYS HAD AVERAGE TEMPERATURES BELOW NORMAL.

JANUARY 2016 WAS SLIGHTLY ABOVE NORMAL FOR PRECIPITATION WITH A
TOTAL OF 1.05 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION RECORDED FOR THE MONTH. THIS
WAS 0.09 INCHES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 0.96 INCHES MAKING THIS THE 46TH
WETTEST JANUARY IN STATION HISTORY. THE GREATEST AMOUNT OF
PRECIPITATION IN A 24 HOUR PERIOD OCCURRED FROM THE 24TH THROUGH THE
25TH WHEN 0.23 INCHES WAS RECORDED. AT LEAST A TRACE OF
PRECIPITATION WAS RECORDED ON 28 DAYS. AT LEAST 0.01 INCHES OF
PRECIPITATION FELL ON 12 DAYS. AT LEAST 0.10 INCHES FELL ON 4 DAYS.
THERE WAS 13.0 INCHES OF SNOW FOR THE MONTH WHICH IS 6.4 INCHES

OF THE MONTH WAS ON THE 27TH WITH AN AVERAGE WIND OF 18.2 MPH. THE
HIGHEST SUSTAINED WIND OCCURRED ON THE 27TH WITH A WIND FROM THE
WEST AT 31 MPH. A PEAK WIND GUST OF 42 MPH FROM THE WEST NORTH WEST
WAS ALSO RECORDED ON THE 27TH. THERE WERE 1611 HEATING DEGREE DAYS
FOR THE MONTH WHICH WAS 88 BELOW THE NORMAL OF 1699. THIS BROUGHT
THE SEASONAL TOTAL TO 4461 WHICH WAS 1007 BELOW THE NORMAL OF 5468.
THERE WERE 0 COOLING DEGREE DAYS FOR THE MONTH WHICH WAS NORMAL. THE
SEASONAL TOTAL COOLING DEGREE DAYS STANDS AT 0 WHICH WAS NORMAL. THE
HIGHEST SEA LEVEL PRESSURE FOR THE MONTH WAS 30.52 INCHES REACHED ON
THE 22ND AND THE LOWEST SEA LEVEL PRESSURE READING WAS 29.40 INCHES
REACHED ON THE 30TH.

THE OUTLOOK FOR FEBRUARY...NORMAL HIGHS START IN THE LOW 20S AND
WARM TO THE UPPER 20S AT THE END OF THE MONTH. NORMAL LOWS FOR THE
MONTH START IN THE SINGLE DIGITS ABOVE ZERO AND WARM TO THE LOW TEENS
AT THE END OF THE MONTH. NORMAL PRECIPITATION FOR FEBRUARY IS 0.81
INCHES.  NORMAL SNOWFALL FOR FEBRUARY IS 12.4 INCHES. ABOVE AVERAGE
TEMPERATURES AND BELOW NORMAL PRECIPITATION ARE FORECASTED FOR
FEBRUARY.
