A river flood warning remains in effect for the Colorado River.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Persons are urged to stay away from the river until water levels recede.

Motorists should avoid any water covered roads and find an alternate route.

Livestock and equipment should remain out of the flood plain for the next few
days.



Stay tuned to NOAA Weather radio or other news sources for further updates.

...The Flood Warning continues
  for The Colorado River near Columbus...
* until Saturday morning...or until the warning is canceled.
* At 1015 AM Friday...the stage was 38.2 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 34.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will continue to fall to below flood stage by this
  evening.
* At 39.0 feet...At levels above 39 feet moderate lowland flooding begins as
  water from Columbus routes to near 18 feet downstream near Eagle Lake and
  Garwood closing FM 950 with significant lowland flooding.

...The Flood Warning continues
  for The Colorado River In Wharton...
* until late Sunday night...or until the warning is canceled.
* At 1015 AM Friday the stage was 40.7 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Major flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 39.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 43.4 feet by Saturday
  afternoon through evening...then fall below flood stage Sunday afternoon.
* At 43.0 feet...Major lowland flooding begins as the slab elevations of lowest
  homes in the west part of Wharton are reached with the school in southwest
  Wharton close to being isolated.
