FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR NORTHERN LOWER MICHIGAN
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE GAYLORD MI
343 PM EDT MON MAY 23 2016

...FIRE WEATHER WATCH REMAINDER OF THIS AFTERNOON AND AGAIN TUESDAY...

.DISCUSSION...VERY WARM TEMPERATURES AND LOW HUMIDITY WILL
CONTINUE TO RESULT IN ELEVATED FIRE DANGER FOR THE REMAINDER OF
THIS AFTERNOON. ISOLATED WIND GUSTS WILL EXCEED CRITICAL
LEVELS...ESPECIALLY ALONG THE LAKE BREEZE FRONT. OTHERWISE...WIND
GUSTS WILL LARGELY REMAIN BELOW CRITICAL LEVELS.

DECENT RH RECOVERY TONIGHT...WITH ELEVATED FIRE DANGER QUICKLY
RETURNING TUESDAY AS TEMPERATURES WARM AND WINDS BEGIN TO PICK UP
OUT OF THE SOUTHWEST AHEAD OF AN APPROACHING FRONT. THESE WINDS
WILL BRING AN INCREASINGLY MOIST AIRMASS TO THE REGION...BUT
PROBABLY NOT AS HIGH AS MOST GUIDANCE NUMBERS WOULD SUGGEST. STILL
BELIEVE RH WILL REMAIN ABOVE CRITICAL LEVELS...BUT MAY BE CLOSE
ACROSS NORTHEAST LOWER MICHIGAN. A FEW SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS
MAY DEVELOP...ESPECIALLY DURING THE AFTERNOON. UNFORTUNATELY...WE
ARE NOT EXPECTING A WIDESPREAD RAIN EVENT (GOOD NEWS IS THAT THERE
WILL BE ADDITIONAL RAIN CHANCES THROUGH THE WEEK).
