Fire Weather Forecast for Northeast and North Central Colorado
National Weather Service Denver/Boulder CO
328 AM MDT Thu Apr 25 2024

...Red Flag Warning Noon to 8 PM MDT this evening for eastern
Elbert and Lincoln Fire Weather Zones 246 and 247...

.DISCUSSION...Today and tonight...Gusty southerly winds to 30 mph
coupled with low relative humidities to around 10 percent are
expected to develop this afternoon over fire weather zones 246 and
247. This coupled with the concern for drier fuels in this area
prompted the issuance of the warning. Elsewhere, showers and
thunderstorms will develop north of the Palmer Divide.

LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Friday through Monday...As the next
system enters northeastern Colorado, scattered to numerous
showers along with a few embedded thunderstorms can be
expected, with heavy snow possible in the higher mountains.
The cool and wet weather will lower any fire weather concerns.
Drier and warmer weather will return by early next week.

...Thunderstorms imply strong gusty erratic winds...
...All surface winds are 20-Foot...10-Minute averaged winds...
...CWR is Chance of Wetting Rain - 0.10 inch or more liquid...
...24 HR Trends are based on averages over the respective zone
groups and may not match the actual forecast values
                    shown in those groups...
