THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR PORTIONS OF CENTRAL...EAST
CENTRAL...SOUTH CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST COLORADO.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT

A MAJOR SPRING STORM SYSTEM WILL IMPACT SOUTHERN COLORADO STARTING
TODAY. RAIN AND HEAVY...WET SNOW WILL DEVELOP OVER MUCH OF THE
REGION THIS AFTERNOON AND CONTINUE THROUGH TONIGHT.

SEVERE WEATHER WILL BE POSSIBLE OVER THE SOUTHEAST PLAINS THIS
AFTERNOON AND EVENING...PRIMARILY IMPACTING LAS ANIMAS...BACA...
OTERO...BENT AND PROWERS COUNTIES AFTER 4 PM MDT. PRIMARY THREATS
WILL INCLUDE LARGE HAIL...STRONG WINDS...HEAVY RAIN AND LIGHTNING.
OUTSIDE OF THE SEVERE THREAT AREA...ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS
PRODUCING SMALL HAIL...GUSTY WINDS...HEAVY RAIN AND LIGHTNING WILL
BE POSSIBLE.

THIS STORM WILL BRING HEAVY...WET SNOW TO ELEVATIONS ABOVE 6000
FEET THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH TONIGHT. ACCUMULATIONS WILL RANGE
FROM A FEW INCHES NEAR THE 6000 FOOT LEVEL TO AROUND A FOOT AT
SOME EASTERN MOUNTAIN LOCATIONS BY FRIDAY MORNING. DUE TO THE
HEAVY...WET NATURE OF THE SNOW...POWER OUTAGES...TREE DAMAGE AND
HAZARDOUS TRAVEL WILL BE POSSIBLE WHERE THE SNOW FALLS.

BELOW 6000 FEET...SOME HEAVY WET SNOW MAY FALL AT TIMES...BUT
ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED TO BE LIMITED BY THE TEMPERATURES.
HOWEVER...LIQUID PRECIPITATION AMOUNTS UP TO AROUND AN INCH
WILL BE POSSIBLE BY IN SOME AREAS BY FRIDAY MORNING.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY

RAIN AND SNOW WILL CONTINUE ACROSS THE AREA DURING THE DAY
FRIDAY. ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS...PRODUCING LIGHTNING AND SMALL
HAIL...WILL BE POSSIBLE FRIDAY AFTERNOON.

PRECIPITATION WILL TAPER OFF TO SHOWERS FRIDAY NIGHT...WITH
ISOLATED RAIN AND SNOW SHOWERS THEN PERSISTING THROUGH THE DAY
SATURDAY. BY THE TIME SNOW TAPERS TO FLURRIES FRIDAY EVENING...SNOW
ACCUMULATIONS OF A FOOT OR MORE WILL BE LIKELY FOR THE MOUNTAIN
AREAS...WITH UP TO 2 FEET OR MORE POSSIBLE FOR THE HIGHER
PEAKS...INCLUDING PIKES PEAK. THE UPPER ARKANSAS RIVER VALLEY AND
THE WET MOUNTAIN VALLEY...AS WELL AS NORTHERN EL PASO COUNTY AND
THE PALMER DIVIDE COULD PICK UP 6 INCHES TO AROUND A FOOT OF SNOW.
SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 1 TO 4 INCHES WILL ALSO BE POSSIBLE ACROSS
THE COLORADO SPRINGS AREA AND THE SAN LUIS VALLEY.

SUNDAY INTO TUESDAY...CONDITIONS WILL REMAIN UNSETTLED ACROSS THE
REGION...WITH PERIODS OF RAIN AND SNOW SHOWERS CONTINUING.
ADDITIONAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS WILL BE POSSIBLE THROUGH THE
PERIOD...MAINLY ABOVE 8000 FEET...BUT WITH SOME ACCUMULATION DOWN
TO AROUND 6000 FEET AT TIMES THROUGH MONDAY.

ANOTHER POTENTIAL HAZARD IN THE DAYS AHEAD WILL BE FLOODING. IT IS
POSSIBLE THAT AS SOILS BECOME INCREASINGLY SATURATED OVER TIME...AND
SURFACE RUNOFF INCREASES...SOME ISSUES WITH URBAN AND SMALL
STREAM FLOODING COULD ENSUE.

WEATHER CONDITIONS THAT MEET REPORTING CRITERIA FOR SPOTTERS WILL BE
LIKELY THROUGH TONIGHT.
