...STRONG TO EXTREME WINDS EXPECTED OVER MUCH OF CENTRAL TO
EASTERN NEW MEXICO TODAY...

.A vigorous and dynamic low pressure system has moved to the
northeast corner of New Mexico. Strong winds have been
periodically observed overnight, and a rapid resurgence of the
winds is expected through the morning hours. Areas of
northeastern to east central New Mexico will observe the most
severe winds with occasional gusts of 60 to 75 mph possible.

...HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM MDT THIS
EVENING...

* LOCATION...Portions of the central mountain chain, adjacent
  eastern highlands and plains of New Mexico.

* WINDS...Westerly winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph
  will turn north northwesterly through the morning hours with a
  rapid resurgence in speed. By late morning and through much of
  the afternoon sustained speeds of 35 to 50 mph with gusts of 60
  to 75 mph are expected.

* TIMING...Steady strong winds this morning will shift direction
  and increase in speed before noon. Winds will remain strong to
  severe through the late afternoon and will decrease in speed
  around dusk.

* VISIBILITY...Dropping to 1 to 3 miles at times in dust prone
  locations such as recently plowed agricultural fields.

* LOCAL IMPACTS...Unsecured objects may become airborne and power
  lines may topple over. Power outages will be possible. Cross
  winds will be dangerous, especially for high profile vehicles.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Remember, A High Wind Warning means damaging winds are imminent
or highly likely. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or
gusts of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.

...WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM MDT THIS EVENING...

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Wind
Advisory, which is in effect until 7 PM MDT this evening.

* LOCATION...Roosevelt county and the Chaves county plains in New
  Mexico.

* WINDS...Westerly winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph
  will turn north northwesterly through the late morning hours
  with increases in speed. By late morning and through much of the
  early afternoon, sustained speeds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts of
  50 mph are expected.

* TIMING...Steady strong winds this morning will shift direction
  and increase in speed before noon. Winds will remain strong
  through the late afternoon and will decrease in speed around
  dusk.

* VISIBILITY...Dropping to 2 to 5 miles at times in dust prone
  locations such as recently plowed agricultural fields.

* LOCAL IMPACTS...Unsecured objects may become airborne. Cross
  winds will pose difficult driving conditions, especially for
  high profile vehicles.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Motorists should exercise caution while travelling. Sudden gusts
of wind may cause you to lose control of your vehicle. Extra
attention should be given to cross winds.

  morning with stronger winds expected from late morning through
  dusk.

  locations.

* LOCAL IMPACTS...Unsecured objects may become airborne. Cross
  winds will pose difficult driving conditions, especially for
  high profile vehicles.
