...EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY MORNING THROUGH
SATURDAY EVENING...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LAS VEGAS HAS ISSUED AN EXCESSIVE
HEAT WATCH...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY MORNING THROUGH
SATURDAY EVENING.

* TEMPERATURE...HIGHS WILL BE 105 TO 110 IN LAS VEGAS AND FOR MUCH
  OF THE MOJAVE DESERT, 110 TO 115 IN THE COLORADO RIVER VALLEY, AND
  115 TO 120 IN DEATH VALLEY. LOWS WILL GENERALLY BE 75 TO 85.

* IMPACTS...HEAT RELATED ILLNESSES SUCH AS HEAT EXHAUSTION AND HEAT
  STROKE WILL BE POSSIBLE. TEMPERATURES WERE BELOW NORMAL FOR THE
  SECOND HALF OF MAY, SO PEOPLE MAY NOT BE ACCLIMATED TO THE HEAT.
  PEOPLE MOST VULNERABLE INCLUDE THOSE WHO ARE SPENDING LOTS OF TIME
  OUTDOORS, THOSE WHO DO NOT HAVE AIR CONDITIONING, YOUNG CHILDREN,
  THE ELDERLY, AND THOSE WITH CHRONIC AILMENTS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH MEANS THAT A PROLONGED PERIOD OF HOT
TEMPERATURES IS EXPECTED, WHICH WILL CREATE A DANGEROUS SITUATION
IN WHICH HEAT ILLNESSES ARE POSSIBLE. DRINK PLENTY OF WATER...STAY
IN AN AIR CONDITIONED ROOM...STAY OUT OF THE SUN...AND CHECK UP ON
RELATIVES AND NEIGHBORS.
