FIRE DANGER STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CORPUS CHRISTI TX
418 AM CDT FRI AUG 22 2014

...ELEVATED FIRE DANGER THREAT THIS AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING
ACROSS THE BRUSH COUNTRY AND FAR INLAND COASTAL PLAINS...

THE COMBINATION OF OCCASIONALLY GUSTY SOUTHEAST WINDS...DECREASING
RELATIVE HUMIDITY VALUES AND DRY FUELS WILL RESULT IN ELEVATED
FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS OVER THE BRUSH COUNTRY AND FAR INLAND
COASTAL PLAINS OF SOUTH TEXAS.

SOUTH TO SOUTHEAST WINDS WILL INCREASE TODAY TO 15 TO 20
MPH...WITH OCCASIONAL HIGHER GUSTS. RELATIVE HUMIDITY LEVELS WILL
DECREASE TO BETWEEN 20 AND 35 PERCENT WITH THE LOWEST VALUES
OCCURRING ACROSS THE WESTERN BRUSH COUNTRY. A FEW LOCATIONS
MAY BRIEFLY EXPERIENCE CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS...BUT
WIDESPREAD RED FLAG CONDITIONS ARE NOT EXPECTED AT THIS TIME.
CONDITIONS WILL IMPROVE EARLY THIS EVENING AS RELATIVE HUMIDITY
VALUES INCREASE.

RESIDENTS ARE URGED TO EXERCISE CARE WITH RESPECT TO ALL OUTDOOR
ACTIVITIES THAT COULD INADVERTENTLY CAUSE WILDFIRES. AVOID THE USE
OF WELDING OR GRINDING EQUIPMENT NEAR WEEDS...GRASS AND DRY BRUSH.
IN ADDITION...AVOID PARKING VEHICLES IN TALL...DRY GRASS AND WEEDS
THAT COULD BE IGNITED. DO NOT TOSS CIGARETTE BUTTS ON THE GROUND.
REPORT WILDFIRES QUICKLY TO THE NEAREST FIRE DEPARTMENT OR LAW
ENFORCEMENT OFFICE.
