DAILY RIVER AND LAKE SUMMARY
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TAUNTON MA
1237 PM EST WED DEC 24 2014

FOR TODAY THROUGH CHRISTMAS MORNING...A STRONG LOW PRESSURE AREA
WILL TRACK NORTH ACROSS THE GREAT LAKES INTO QUEBEC BRINGING
WIDESPREAD RAIN TO OUR REGION AS IT DOES SO. AN ISOLATED
THUNDERSTORM IS POSSIBLE...ESPECIALLY LATE TONIGHT. THE RAIN WILL
TAPER OFF THROUGH LATE MORNING ON CHRISTMAS DAY AND GIVE WAY TO
PARTIAL CLEARING IN THE AFTERNOON.

RAINFALL TOTALS OVER THE NEXT 24 HOURS WILL AVERAGE 1 TO 2 INCHES
WITH A FEW POCKETS NEAR 3 INCHES. THE RAINFALL WILL COMBINE WITH
SNOW MELT FROM UPSTREAM DUE TO MILD TEMPERATURES. THIS COMBINATION
WILL YIELD RISES OF 1 TO 3 FEET ON AREA MAIN STEM RIVERS...WITH
THE LOWER CONNECTICUT RIVER REALIZING HIGHER RISES THROUGH FRIDAY
MORNING.

DRY WEATHER WITH MILD TEMPERATURES WILL CONTINUE FRIDAY AND
SATURDAY AS HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS OVER THE MID ATLANTIC STATES. A
COLD FRONT MAY BRING A FEW RAIN OR SNOW SHOWERS TO OUR REGION ON
SUNDAY.

THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR HIGH FLOWS ALONG THE LOWER CONNECTICUT
RIVER TOWARD WEEKS END DUE TO CONTINUED UNSEASONABLE WARMTH
THROUGH SATURDAY ENABLING SNOW MELT UPSTREAM. THE LOWER MERRIMACK
RIVER COULD ALSO SEE CONTINUED RISES INTO SATURDAY.

THESE FORECASTS INCLUDE 24 HOUR PRECIPITATION FOR THE PERIOD ENDING
AT 7 AM TODAY, AND FORECAST PRECIPITATION THROUGH 7 AM TOMORROW.
