...NEAR-FREEZING TEMPERATURES IN PARTS OF SOUTHCENTRAL ALASKA...

OVERNIGHT TEMPERATURES MAY APPROACH THE FREEZING MARK IN THE
TYPICAL COLD SPOTS AROUND SOUTHERN ALASKA EACH OF THE NEXT FEW
NIGHTS. THIS INCLUDES THE BUTTE, EAST ANCHORAGE, MEADOW LAKES, AND
THE INTERIOR KENAI PENINSULA. TEMPERATURES IN THE LOWER PORTIONS
OF THE COPPER RIVER BASIN HAVE ALREADY BEEN BELOW FREEZING THIS
MORNING AND WILL REMAIN AT RISK FOR ADDITIONAL FREEZES THROUGH THE
END OF THE WEEK.

CLEAR SKIES AND LONGER NIGHTS HAVE ALLOWED TEMPERATURES TO COOL
DOWN RAPIDLY EACH OF THE LAST FEW NIGHTS. THIS TREND WILL
CONTINUE FOR SEVERAL MORE NIGHTS UNTIL CLOUDS MOVE IN FOR THE
WEEKEND AND CAUSE OVERNIGHT TEMPERATURES TO RISE.

FARMERS AND GARDENERS SHOULD KEEP A CLOSE EYE ON THE TEMPERATURES
AND MAY WISH TO TAKE STEPS TO PROTECT SENSITIVE PLANTS. THIS MAY
INCLUDE BRINGING PLANTS INDOORS FOR THE NEXT FEW NIGHTS.
