...LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALLS EXPECTED STARTING CHRISTMAS DAY...

TROPICAL DISTURBANCE 05F WAS CENTERED ABOUT 360 NM (415 SM) NORTHWEST
OF TUTUILA...MOVING EAST SLOWLY. SATELLITE IMAGERY SHOWS SEVERAL CONVECTION
BREWING NEAR THE CENTER OF THE DISTURBANCE. A MONSOON TROUGH FROM EARLIER
THIS WEEK WILL REMAIN TO THE NORTH OF THE SAMOAN ISLANDS...HENCE THE
TROPICAL DISTURBANCE 05F WILL MOVE ALONG THE MONSOON TROUGH AXIS UNTIL
IT MAKES A TRIFLING TURN TOWARD TUTUILA STARTING THURSDAY EVENING.
COMPUTER MODELS AGREE TO BRING NUMEROUS TO FREQUENT SHOWERS WITH
LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL AND POSSIBLE TSTMS ACROSS AMERICAN SAMOA...
INCLUDING GUSTY WINDS OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS INTO THE WEEKEND.
AS A RESULT...ANTICIPATE CONVECTIVE SHOWERS TO USHER RAINFALL AMOUNTS
UP TO 3 TO 6 INCHES. THE THREAT FOR FLASH FLOODING IS HIGH AS WE EXPECT
INCREASING RAINFALL TO MOVE ACROSS THE AREA.
