URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...SNOW PERSISTING ACROSS NORTHWEST WISCONSIN...

.Snow will continue to affect much of northwest Wisconsin
overnight, before diminishing toward daybreak. The most
substantial snowfall is expected in eastern portions of northern
Wisconsin. Gusty north to northwest winds may also produce
drifting and blowing snow, with visibilities restricted to a mile
or less at times.

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM CST
SATURDAY...

* TIMING...Snow is expected to continue this evening before
  diminishing overnight and early Saturday morning.

* LOCATIONS...The highest snowfall amounts are expected over the
  higher terrain of Iron county, with lower amounts to the south.

* ADDITIONAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...3 to 6 inches. Total snowfall is
  expected to be in the 6 to 9 inch range, especially along the
  Gogebic Range.

* WINDS...North 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

* VISIBILITIES...Less than one half mile in the heavier snow.

* IMPACTS...Snow accumulations will make travel difficult.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means significant snow
accumulation is anticipated and snowfall rates of one inch per
hour or greater can be expected at times. Expect snow covered
roads and visibility less than one-half mile. If you must travel,
exercise extreme caution and allow extra time to reach your
destination.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM CST
SATURDAY...

* TIMING...Light snow is expected to continue into early
  evening, then diminish later this evening and end overnight.

* LOCATIONS...Bayfield, Ashland, Washburn, Sawyer and Price
  counties.

* ADDITIONAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...2 to 4 inches. The highest
  snowfall is expected in an area from eastern Sawyer county into
  Ashland County. Total snowfall should generally be in the 4 to 7
  inch range, but locally higher amounts will be possible in the
  higher terrain of eastern Ashland County.

* WINDS...North 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

* VISIBILITIES...Less than one half mile in the heavier snow.

* IMPACTS...Snow accumulations will make travel difficult.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A winter weather advisory for snow means that accumulating snow
will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered
roads and reduced visibility...and use caution while driving.
Allow extra time to reach your destination.
