HYDROLOGIC OUTLOOK
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DULUTH MN
405 PM CDT FRI MAY 30 2014

...HEAVY RAINFALL POSSIBLE LATE TONIGHT THROUGH MONDAY...

A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL BRING THE POTENTIAL FOR HEAVY RAINFALL
AND LOCALIZED FLOODING TO MUCH OF THE NORTHLAND THIS WEEKEND AND
EARLY NEXT WEEK. SEVERAL PERIODS OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE
EXPECTED THROUGHOUT THAT TIME...WITH ISOLATED SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS BECOMING MORE NUMEROUS IN THE WESTERN AREAS
TONIGHT...AND SPREADING EASTWARD TO COVER THE REST OF THE AREA ON
SATURDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHT.

THE WEATHER ACROSS THE NORTHLAND HAS BEEN VERY DRY THIS WEEK BUT
THERE SOME LAKES AND RIVERS ARE STILL FAIRLY HIGH FROM HEAVY RAIN
AND SNOW THIS PAST SPRING. IN ADDITION...AVAILABLE MOISTURE IS
EXPECTED TO RISE CONSIDERABLY THIS WEEKEND AS HUMID AIR SURGES
NORTHWARD FROM THE GULF OF MEXICO. THE GULF MOISTURE...COMBINED
WITH THE SLOW MOVING AND WELL DEVELOPED SYSTEM...WILL SET THE
STAGE FOR VERY HEAVY RAINFALL.

RAINFALL OF 1 TO 3 INCHES...OR POSSIBLY MORE IN SOME SPOTS...IS
LIKELY FROM SATURDAY THROUGH MONDAY. THE HEAVIEST RAINFALL AT THIS
POINT...IS EXPECTED FROM SATURDAY NIGHT INTO SUNDAY. BE SURE TO
MONITOR OUR FORECASTS FOR THE LATEST FORECASTS AND POSSIBLE
WATCHES AND WARNINGS.
