HYDROLOGIC OUTLOOK
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DULUTH MN
706 PM CDT FRI JUN 13 2014

...EXPECTED RAINFALL THIS WEEKEND MAY RESULT IN ADDITIONAL FLOODING...

MANY AREAS ACROSS NORTHEAST MINNESOTA AND NORTHWEST WISCONSIN
HAVE EXPERIENCED A VERY WET SPRING. RAINFALL EARLIER THIS WEEK HAS
LEFT NORTHLAND SOILS SATURATED OR NEARLY SATURATED...ESPECIALLY
OVER PORTIONS OF CENTRAL AND NORTH-CENTRAL MINNESOTA. NUMEROUS
STREAMS AND RIVERS ARE RUNNING HIGH...RESULTING IN SOME ROAD
CLOSURES AND MINOR FLOODING.

A STORM SYSTEM APPROACHING FROM THE NORTHERN PLAINS WILL BRING
RAINFALL TO THE NORTHLAND ONCE AGAIN BEGINNING TONIGHT OVER
CENTRAL AND NORTH-CENTRAL MINNESOTA. DURING THE WEEKEND SEVERAL
ROUNDS OF RAINFALL AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED WITH TOTAL
RAINFALL OF 1 TO 3 INCHES BY MONDAY MORNING. AT THIS TIME THE
HEAVIEST RAINS ARE EXPECTED IN THE BRAINERD LAKES VICINITY
EASTWARD TO NEAR DULUTH...INCLUDING HINCKLEY...PINE
CITY...AND AITKIN. LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS ARE POSSIBLE WHERE THE
STRONGEST THUNDERSTORMS OCCUR.

ADDITIONAL FLOODING IS POSSIBLE THIS WEEKEND AS THE RAIN RUNS OFF
INTO AREA STREAMS AND RIVERS...ESPECIALLY OVER NORTH-CENTRAL MINNESOTA.
LOW-LYING AREAS THAT ARE SUSCEPTIBLE TO FLOODING ARE ALSO AT RISK.
RAPID RISES IN STREAM AND RIVER LEVELS ARE POSSIBLE AND ADDITIONAL
ROAD CLOSURES AND WASHOUTS ARE POSSIBLE.
