URGENT - MARINE WEATHER MESSAGE

...ARCTIC AIR RETURNS WITH A PERIOD OF VERY STRONG NORTH WINDS...

.Arctic air will return to western Lake Superior late tonight
through Thursday leading to a period of very strong north winds.
Gales up to knots are expected for much of the north shore early
Thursday morning through the afternoon, with resulting waves and a
risk for heavy freezing spray developing along the south shore.
Winds and waves will gradually diminish Thursday night.

...GALE WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 4 AM TO 6 PM CST THURSDAY...

The National Weather Service in Duluth has issued a Gale Warning,
which is in effect from 4 AM to 6 PM CST Thursday.

* Sustained Winds...North 15 to 25 knots.

* Wind Gusts...Up to 40 knots.

* Waves...3 to 5 feet.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Gale Warning means winds of 34 to 47 knots are imminent or
occurring. Operating a vessel in gale conditions requires
experience and properly equipped vessels. It is highly
recommended that mariners without the proper experience seek safe
harbor prior to the onset of gale conditions.

FRIDAY...

The National Weather Service in Duluth has issued a Heavy
Freezing Spray Warning, which is in effect from 4 AM to 10 PM CST
Thursday. A Small Craft Advisory has also been issued. This Small
Craft Advisory is in effect from 4 AM Thursday to 4 AM CST
Friday.

* Ice Accumulations...Moderate to Heavy.

* Sustained Winds...North 10 to 20 knots.

* Wind Gusts...Up to 30 knots.

* Waves...8 TO 10 feet.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Heavy Freezing Spray Warning means heavy freezing spray is
expected to rapidly accumulate on vessels. These conditions can
be extremely hazardous to navigation. It is recommended that
mariners not trained to operate in these conditions or vessels
not properly equipped to do so...remain in port or avoid the
warning area.

A Small Craft Advisory means that wind speeds of 21 to 33 knots
are expected to produce hazardous wave conditions to small craft.
Inexperienced mariners...especially those operating smaller
vessels should avoid navigating in these conditions.
