NORTH SHORE NEARSHORE WATERS WEDNESDAY INTO THURSDAY MORNING...

.A STRONG SPRING STORM SYSTEM WILL AFFECT THE WESTERN GREAT LAKES
REGION WEDNESDAY INTO THURSDAY MORNING. A STRENGTHENING AREA OF
LOW PRESSURE WILL MOVE FROM NEAR SIOUX FALLS SOUTH DAKOTA
WEDNESDAY MORNING...TO NEAR MARQUETTE MICHIGAN BY THURSDAY
MORNING. A VERY TIGHT PRESSURE GRADIENT ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE
CENTER OF THE LOW PRESSURE AREA WILL RESULT IN VERY STRONG EAST TO
NORTHEAST WINDS ACROSS MOST OF WESTERN LAKE SUPERIOR WEDNESDAY AND
WEDNESDAY NIGHT.

WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM WEDNESDAY TO 4 AM CDT
THURSDAY.

* WINDS...EAST-NORTHEAST 30 TO 35 KNOTS.

* WIND GUSTS...FREQUENT GUSTS FROM 40 TO 45 KNOTS.

* WAVES...BUILDING TO 6 TO 10 FEET IN NON ICE COVERED AREAS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A GALE WARNING MEANS WINDS OF 34 TO 47 KNOTS ARE IMMINENT OR
OCCURRING. OPERATING A VESSEL IN GALE CONDITIONS REQUIRES
EXPERIENCE AND PROPERLY EQUIPPED VESSELS. IT IS HIGHLY
RECOMMENDED THAT MARINERS WITHOUT THE PROPER EXPERIENCE SEEK SAFE
HARBOR PRIOR TO THE ONSET OF GALE CONDITIONS.

WINDS AND WAVES WILL ALSO INTERACT WITH LARGE AMOUNTS OF WINTER
LAKE ICE TO PILE UP ICE ON ANY SHORELINES...HARBORS AND HARBOR
APPROACHES THAT ARE EXPOSED TO THE NORTHEAST. IN ADDITION...LAKE
ICE EMBEDDED WITHIN THE WAVES COULD RESULT IN VERY DANGEROUS
CONDITIONS FOR ANY VESSELS ON WESTERN LAKE SUPERIOR.

A SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY MEANS THAT WIND SPEEDS OF 21 TO 33 KNOTS
ARE EXPECTED TO PRODUCE HAZARDOUS WAVE CONDITIONS TO SMALL CRAFT.
INEXPERIENCED MARINERS...ESPECIALLY THOSE OPERATING SMALLER
VESSELS SHOULD AVOID NAVIGATING IN THESE CONDITIONS.
