...THE MAJOR SPRING STORM WILL LOSE ITS GRIP ON THE REGION...

.THE STRONG STORM SYSTEM THAT BROUGHT MORE THAN A FOOT OF SNOW TO
MUCH OF NORTHWESTERN WISCONSIN AND SOME LOCATIONS IN EAST CENTRAL
MINNESOTA WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE AWAY FROM THE REGION TODAY. SNOW
WILL CONTINUE ACROSS THE ARROWHEAD OF MINNESOTA INTO EARLY
AFTERNOON WITH ADDITIONAL ACCUMULATION.

SNOW HAS DIMINISHED OVER THE REGION. AMOUNTS OF 12 TO 16 INCHES
WERE REPORTED ACROSS A LARGE PART OF NORTHWEST WISCONSIN. A
WARMING TREND WILL START THIS WEEKEND AND CONTINUE INTO NEXT WEEK.

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON CDT TODAY...

* LOCATION...THE ARROWHEAD OF NORTHEAST MINNESOTA...INCLUDING
  ISABELLA AND GRAND MARAIS.

* TIMING...SNOW WILL CONTINUE NEAR LAKE SUPERIOR FOR COOK AND LAKE
  COUNTIES THROUGH EARLY AFTERNOON.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATION OF 5 TO 9 INCHES
  CAN BE EXPECTED...MAINLY ALONG THE HIGHER TERRAIN NEAR LAKE
  SUPERIOR. MUCH LESS IS EXPECTED FARTHER INLAND.

* WINDS/VISIBILITY...EAST TO NORTHEAST WINDS WILL GUST TO MORE
  THAN 25 MPH AT TIMES ALONG THE SHORE IN COOK COUNTY...CAUSING
  AREAS OF BLOWING SNOW. WINDS WILL GRADUALLY DECREASE THROUGHOUT
  THE DAY.

* IMPACTS...THE HEAVY SNOW AND HIGH WINDS COULD BRING DOWN
  BRANCHES. ROADS WILL REMAIN SNOW COVERED AND SLIPPERY.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW MEANS THE
COMBINATION OF STRONG WINDS AND FALLING AND BLOWING SNOW WILL
CAUSE DANGEROUSLY LOW VISIBILITY AND DRIFTING SNOW. SNOW AND ICE
COVERED ROADS...AND DANGEROUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS CAN BE EXPECTED.
DELAY TRAVEL IF POSSIBLE. IF YOU MUST TRAVEL...USE EXTREME
CAUTION AND ALLOW EXTRA TIME TO REACH YOUR DESTINATION.
