URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...HEAVY SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW EXPECTED TODAY...

.A STRONG STORM SYSTEM WILL BRING HEAVY SNOW TO A LARGE AREA OF
THE NORTHLAND TODAY INTO THURSDAY. SNOW HAS SPREAD OVER NORTHERN
WISCONSIN AND AS FAR NORTH AS HIGHWAY 2 IN MINNESOTA AS OF LATE
MORNING. SNOW WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE NORTH AND EAST INTO THE
ARROWHEAD LATER THIS AFTERNOON INTO THE EVENING. THE HEAVIEST
SNOWFALL GENERALLY LOOKS TO BE IN AN AREA FROM EAST CENTRAL
MINNESOTA AND THE TWIN PORTS...INTO NORTHERN WISCONSIN. ANOTHER
AREA OF HEAVY SNOW WILL BE ALONG THE NORTH SHORE THROUGH THURSDAY
MORNING. TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATION IS EXPECTED TO BE AS MUCH AS 8 TO
16 INCHES IN THE WARNING AREA...WITH LESSER AMOUNTS TO THE NORTH
AND WEST. NORTHWEST WISCONSIN HAS THE BEST CHANCE AT SEEING THE
HIGHER SNOWFALL. GUSTY EAST TO NORTHEAST WINDS WILL ALSO CAUSE AREAS OF
BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW...ESPECIALLY NEAR LAKE SUPERIOR. WINDS
WILL GUST HIGHER THAN 40 MPH AT TIMES NEAR LAKE SUPERIOR TODAY AND
TONIGHT CAUSING CONSIDERABLE BLOWING AND DRIFTING.

* TIMING...SNOW WILL CONTINUE TO FALL...AND BE HEAVY AT
  TIMES...ESPECIALLY OVER PINE AND BURNETT COUNTIES.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...6 TO 14 INCHES OF SNOW IS POSSIBLE...WITH
  HIGHEST AMOUNTS OVER PINE AND BURNETT COUNTIES.

* WINDS/VISIBILITY...NORTHEAST WINDS OF 10 TO 20 MPH WILL GUST
  TO NEAR 30 MPH AT TIMES. VISIBILITY WILL OCCASIONALLY BE
  REDUCED TO A QUARTER MILE OR LESS IN SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW.

* IMPACTS...THE HEAVY SNOW AND HIGH WINDS COULD BRING DOWN
  BRANCHES. ROADS WILL BECOME SNOW COVERED WITH LOW VISIBILITY.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...10 TO 16 INCHES OF SNOW IS POSSIBLE. THE
  HEAVIEST AMOUNTS WILL LIKELY EXTEND FROM THE MINONG AND GORDON
  AREAS NORTHEASTWARD TO AROUND IRONWOOD AND ASHLAND.

* WINDS/VISIBILITY...NORTHEAST WINDS 15 TO 25 MPH ARE
  EXPECTED...WITH THE STRONGEST WINDS CLOSE TO LAKE SUPERIOR.
  FREQUENT GUSTS 30 TO 40 MPH ARE POSSIBLE NEAR LAKE SUPERIOR AS
  WELL. VISIBILITY WILL BE LESS THAN ONE QUARTER OF A MILE AT
  TIMES DURING THE HEAVIER SNOW BANDS... AND ESPECIALLY CLOSER TO
  LAKE SUPERIOR WITH THE COMBINATION OF STRONG WINDS AND BLOWING
  SNOW.

* IMPACTS...THE HEAVY SNOW AND HIGH WINDS COULD BRING DOWN
  BRANCHES. ROADS WILL BECOME SNOW COVERED WITH LOW VISIBILITY.

  LATE THIS MORNING INTO THE AFTERNOON...AND INCREASE IN
  INTENSITY. THE SNOW WILL THEN DECEASE LATE TONIGHT AND EARLY
  THURSDAY.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...8 TO 14 INCHES.

* WINDS/VISIBILITY...EAST TO NORTHEAST WINDS WILL INCREASE TO 20
  TO 25 MPH...WITH FREQUENT GUSTS IN THE 35 TO 40 MPH RANGE DEVELOPING.
  VISIBILITY WILL BE LESS THAN A QUARTER MILE AT TIMES DUE TO SNOW
  AND BLOWING SNOW.

  HIGHER TERRAIN INLAND FROM LAKE SUPERIOR...LIGHTER AMOUNTS WILL
  OCCUR OVER NORTHERN PORTIONS OF LAKE COUNTY.

* WINDS/VISIBILITY...EAST TO NORTHEAST WINDS WILL GUST TO MORE
