URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...SNOW PERSISTING OVER NORTHWEST WISCONSIN THROUGH TODAY...

.THE SNOWBELT AREAS OF NORTHWEST WISCONSIN ALONG THE SOUTH SHORE
OF LAKE SUPERIOR CAN EXPECT AN ADDITIONAL ONE TO THREE INCHES OF
SNOW TODAY. THE GREATEST STORM TOTAL SNOWFALL AMOUNTS
WILL BE OVER THE GOGEBIC RANGE OF FAR EASTERN ASHLAND AND IRON
COUNTIES. THE SNOW IS EXPECTED TO GRADUALLY DIMINISH THROUGH THE AFTERNOON.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...ADDITIONAL SNOWFALL FROM MID MORNING
  THROUGH THE AFTERNOON WILL RANGE FROM 1 TO 3 INCHES. SNOWFALL
  SPOTTER REPORT AROUND 3 TO 4 INCHES IN ASHLAND...5 INCHES IN
  SAXON...AND NEAR 7 INCHES ON MADELINE ISLAND.

* WINDS...NORTH 10 TO 20 MPH.

* VISIBILITY...AS LOW AS A HALF MILE AT TIMES IN OPEN AREAS.

* IMPACTS...THE WISCONSIN DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION REPORTED
  HIGHWAY 2 AND HIGHWAY 51 WAS SNOW COVERED OR HAD SLIPPERY STRETCHES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW MEANS THE
COMBINATION OF STRONG WINDS AND FALLING AND BLOWING SNOW MAY
CAUSE LOW VISIBILITY AND DRIFTING SNOW. SNOW AND ICE COVERED
ROADS...AND VERY DIFFICULT TRAVEL CONDITIONS CAN BE EXPECTED. IF
YOU MUST TRAVEL...USE EXTREME CAUTION AND ALLOW EXTRA TIME TO
REACH YOUR DESTINATION. KEEP A WINTER SURVIVAL KIT IN YOUR

  ACROSS THE BAYFIELD PENINSULA.

* IMPACTS...THE WISCONSIN DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION REPORTED
  HIGHWAYS 2 AND 63 HAD SLIPPERY STRETCHES. HIGHWAY 13 ACROSS
  BAYFIELD COUNTY WILL ALSO BE SNOW COVERED AND SLICK.
