URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...MODERATE SNOW ACCUMULATIONS EXPECTED TONIGHT AND THURSDAY
MORNING ALONG THE SOUTH SHORE OF LAKE SUPERIOR...

.ANOTHER SURGE OF COLD ARCTIC AIR WILL MOVE INTO THE WESTERN GREAT
LAKES REGION TONIGHT AND THURSDAY IN THE WAKE OF THE LOW PRESSURE
SYSTEM THAT PASSED ACROSS THE REGION TODAY. LAKE EFFECT SNOW
SHOWERS ARE EXPECTED TO RAPIDLY DEVELOP LATE THIS EVENING...AND
PERSIST THROUGH MOST OF THURSDAY MORNING OVER NORTHWEST WISCONSIN.
PRECIPITATION MAY START AS A MIXTURE OF RAIN AND SNOW...AND THEN
CHANGE TO ALL SNOW AS TEMPERATURES FALL LATE THIS EVENING. THIS
WILL LIKELY LEAD TO SLUSH COVERED ROADS BECOMING COMPACTED WITH
SNOW AND THEN FREEZING TO ICE OVERNIGHT...WITH POTENTIALLY VERY
SLICK ROAD CONDITIONS DEVELOPING IN SOME AREAS. THE HEAVIEST SNOW
ACCUMULATIONS BETWEEN 3 AND 6 INCHES ARE EXPECTED IN THE HIGHER
TERRAIN OF THE GOGEBIC RANGE OF NORTHERN IRON COUNTY. SNOW IS
EXPECTED TO RAPIDLY DIMINISH OVER THE MIDDAY HOURS ON THURSDAY.

WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW...WHICH IS IN EFFECT
FROM 9 PM THIS EVENING TO NOON CDT THURSDAY.

* LOCATIONS...NORTHERN IRON COUNTY AND THE GOGEBIC RANGE.

* TIMING...FROM ROUGHLY 9 PM THIS EVENING THROUGH LATE MORNING THURSDAY.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...3 TO 6 INCHES IN NORTHERN IRON COUNTY.
  HEAVIEST AMOUNTS IN THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF THE GOGEBIC RANGE.

* WINDS...NORTHWEST TO NORTH 10 TO 20 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 30 MPH.

* VISIBILITIES...LESS THAN A HALF MILE IN HEAVIER SNOW SHOWERS.

* IMPACTS...MANY ROADS WILL LIKELY BECOME SNOW AND ICE COVERED AND
  VERY SLIPPERY BY LATE THIS EVENING. VISIBILITY WILL ALSO BE
  LIMITED BY FALLING AND BLOWING SNOW.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW MEANS THAT
VISIBILITIES WILL BE LIMITED DUE TO A COMBINATION OF FALLING AND
BLOWING SNOW. USE CAUTION WHEN TRAVELING...ESPECIALLY IN OPEN
AREAS THAT ARE MORE EXPOSED TO THE WIND. ROADS MAY BE SLICK AND
HAZARDOUS...SO ALLOW EXTRA TIME TO REACH YOUR DESTINATION.
