URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...WINTER STORM TO AFFECT PARTS OF THE NORTHLAND INTO TONIGHT...

.Snow will continue to affect much of northwest Wisconsin this
afternoon and will continue into this evening before decreasing
overnight. Gusty winds will accompany this storm, especially
this afternoon and evening, resulting in blowing snow and reduced
visibility in places.

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM CST
SATURDAY...

* TIMING...Snow is expected to continue this afternoon and evening
  before diminishing overnight. Snow stopped for awhile this
  morning in southern Price county, but snow will spread back in
  early this afternoon. The snowbelt areas of Ashland and Iron
  counties will see snow through the night.

* LOCATIONS...The highest snowfall amounts are expected over far
  southeast Sawyer county, eastern Ashland county, northern Price
  county, and much of Iron county. The Hayward area may only
  receive 2 to 3 inches.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...4 to 8 inches. Locally higher amounts
  possible.

* WINDS...North 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

* VISIBILITIES...Less than one half mile in the heavier snow.

* IMPACTS...Snow accumulations will make travel difficult.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means significant snow
accumulation is anticipated and snowfall rates of one inch per
hour or greater can be expected at times. Expect snow covered
roads and visibility less than one-half mile. If you must travel,
exercise extreme caution and allow extra time to reach your
destination.

* TIMING...Light snow is expected to continue this afternoon, then
  diminish later this evening and end overnight.

* LOCATIONS...Washburn and Bayfield counties.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...2 to 4 inches.

* WINDS...North 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

* VISIBILITIES...Less than one half mile in the heavier snow.

* IMPACTS...Snow accumulation on area roads will result in
slippery stretches and may make travel difficult.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow and blowing snow means
visibilities will be reduced due to a combination of falling and
blowing snow. Use caution when traveling, especially in open
areas that are more exposed to the wind. You may experience
slippery stretches on area roads. Allow extra time to reach your
destination.
