...HEAVY SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW EXPECTED TODAY...

.A STRONG STORM SYSTEM WILL BRING HEAVY SNOW TO A LARGE AREA OF
THE NORTHLAND TODAY INTO THURSDAY. SNOW WILL GRADUALLY SPREAD FROM
SOUTH TO NORTH ACROSS CENTRAL MINNESOTA AND NORTHERN WISCONSIN
THIS MORNING. THE SNOW WILL THEN MOVE INTO THE ARROWHEAD BY
AFTERNOON. THE HEAVIEST SNOWFALL GENERALLY LOOKS TO BE IN AN AREA
FROM EAST CENTRAL MINNESOTA AND THE TWIN PORTS...INTO NORTHERN
WISCONSIN. ANOTHER AREA OF HEAVY SNOW WILL BE ALONG THE NORTH
SHORE THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING. TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATION IS
EXPECTED TO BE AS MUCH AS 10 TO 16 INCHES IN THE WARNING
AREA...WITH LESSER AMOUNTS TO THE NORTH AND WEST. GUSTY EAST TO
NORTHEAST WINDS WILL ALSO CAUSE AREAS OF BLOWING AND DRIFTING
SNOW...ESPECIALLY NEAR LAKE SUPERIOR. WINDS WILL GUST HIGHER THAN
40 MPH AT TIMES NEAR LAKE SUPERIOR TODAY AND TONIGHT.

WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM CDT
THURSDAY.

* LOCATION...EAST CENTRAL AND NORTHEAST MINNESOTA...INCLUDING THE
  TWIN PORTS AREA...INTERSTATE 35 CORRIDOR THROUGH CARLTON
  COUNTY...AND ALONG THE NORTH SHORE TO TWO HARBORS.

* TIMING...SNOW WILL INCREASE IN INTENSITY AND COVERAGE AS THE
  MORNING WEARS ON...WITH HEAVY SNOW POSSIBLE BY AFTERNOON. THE
  SNOW WILL THEN DECEASE LATER TONIGHT AND EARLY THURSDAY.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...8 TO 14 INCHES.

* WINDS/VISIBILITY...EAST TO NORTHEAST WINDS WILL INCREASE TO 20
  TO 25 MPH...WITH FREQUENT GUSTS IN THE 30 TO 40 MPH RANGE.
  VISIBILITY WILL BE LESS THAN A QUARTER MILE AT TIMES DUE TO SNOW
  AND BLOWING SNOW.

* IMPACTS...THE HEAVY SNOW AND HIGH WINDS COULD BRING DOWN
  BRANCHES. ROADS WILL BECOME SNOW COVERED WITH LOW VISIBILITY.

* TIMING...SNOW WILL DEVELOP ACROSS THE ARROWHEAD REGION LATER
  THIS MORNING...AND INCREASE IN COVERAGE AND INTENSITY BY THIS
  AFTERNOON. BLOWING SNOW WILL ALSO BECOME LIKELY BY AFTERNOON.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...8 TO 12 INCHES...ESPECIALLY ALONG THE
  HIGHER TERRAIN INLAND FROM LAKE SUPERIOR.

* WINDS/VISIBILITY...EAST TO NORTHEAST WINDS WILL GUST TO MORE
  THAN 30 MPH AT TIMES TODAY THROUGH TONIGHT. THIS WILL REDUCE
  VISIBILITIES DUE TO BLOWING SNOW.

  AREAS NORTHEASTWARD TO AROUND IRONWOOD AND ASHLAND.

* WINDS/VISIBILITY...NORTHEAST WINDS 20 TO 25 MPH ARE EXPECTED
  WITH THE STRONGEST WINDS CLOSE TO LAKE SUPERIOR. FREQUENT
  GUSTS 30 TO 40 MPH ARE POSSIBLE. VISIBILITY WILL BE LESS THAN
  ONE QUARTER OF A MILE AT TIMES DURING THE HEAVIER SNOW BANDS...
