URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...LAKE EFFECT DEVELOPING THIS EVENING OVER THE SOUTH SHORE...

.Lake effect snow is expected along the higher terrain of the
south shore of Lake Superior tonight, mainly across Ashland and
Iron counties. There will be periods of heavy snow for areas along
the Gogebic Range. The lake effect snow will continue through
Saturday morning over these counties before tapering off by
Saturday afternoon.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON CST
SATURDAY...

* WHAT...Lake effect snow expected. Plan on slippery road
  conditions. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches, with
  localized amounts up to 8 inches, are expected.

* WHERE...Ashland and Iron Counties. The greatest snowfall
  amounts will be along the Gogebic Range including the
  communities of Montreal, Gile, and Hurley.

* WHEN...Until noon CST Saturday. The most intense snowfall will
  occur this evening and overnight tonight.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Roads will quickly become snow covered
  this evening. Be prepared for reduced visibilities at times.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Weather Advisory for lake effect snow means lake effect
snow is forecast that will make travel difficult in some areas.
Use caution when traveling. The latest road conditions for
Minnesota can be obtained by calling 511 in state, or 1-800-542-
0220. For Wisconsin, call 511 in state, or 1-866-511-9472
