URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...WINTER STORM TO AFFECT PARTS OF THE NORTHLAND LATE TONIGHT
THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT...

.A winter storm is forecast to affect northwest Wisconsin late
tonight through Friday night. The heaviest snow will likely fall
during the day Friday into Friday evening. Gusty winds will
accompany this storm, especially during the day on Friday and
through Friday night, resulting in blowing snow and reduced
visibility in places. The forecast snowfall amounts have been
lowered as the storm track has shifted east. However, the storm
is still developing and it is possible there could be a shift
north and west, bringing higher totals back northwest.

The National Weather Service in Duluth has cancelled the Winter
Storm Watch.

Snow is still expected to fall, but snowfall amounts will only be
a few inches.

...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 6 AM
CST SATURDAY...

The National Weather Service in Duluth has issued a Winter Storm
Warning for heavy snow...which is in effect from midnight tonight
to 6 AM CST Saturday. The Winter Storm Watch is no longer in
effect.

* TIMING...Snow will begin after midnight tonight, continue most
  of Friday before ending early Saturday morning.

* LOCATIONS...East of a line from Hayward to Ashland Wisconsin.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...4 to 8 inches.

* WINDS...North 5 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

* VISIBILITIES...Less than one half mile in the heavier snow.

* IMPACTS...Snow and ice accumulations will make many roads
  treacherous and impassable.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means heavy snow
accumulation is anticipated, and that snowfall rates of one inch
per hour or greater can be expected at times. Expect snow and ice
covered roads and visibility less than a quarter mile. If you must
travel...exercise extreme caution and allow extra time to reach
your destination.

6 AM CST SATURDAY...

The National Weather Service in Duluth has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for snow and blowing snow...which is in effect
from midnight tonight to 6 AM CST Saturday. The Winter Storm Watch
is no longer in effect.

* TIMING...Snow is expected to begin after midnight tonight, and
  continue through much of Friday before ending early Saturday
  morning.

* LOCATIONS...Washburn and Bayfield counties.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...2 to 5 inches.

* WINDS...North 5 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

* VISIBILITIES...Less than one half mile in the heavier snow.

* IMPACTS...The snow will create snow covered roads and may cause
  difficult travel.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A winter weather advisory for snow and blowing snow means that
visibilities will be limited due to a combination of falling and
blowing snow. Use caution when traveling...especially in open
areas that are more exposed to the wind. Roads may be slick and
hazardous...so allow extra time to reach your destination.
