URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

.RAIN WILL CHANGE TO SNOW EARLY THIS MORNING NEAR THE TWIN PORTS
AND THEN SPREAD NORTH INTO THE ARROWHEAD BY MID MORNING. IT IS
POSSIBLE THAT A FEW INCHES MAY QUICKLY ACCUMULATE NEAR DULUTH
BETWEEN 7AM AND 10AM. SURFACE TEMPERATURES WILL REMAIN ABOVE
FREEZING... AND WITH A RELATIVELY HIGH WATER CONTENT IN THE SNOW...
AREA ROADS MAY PRIMARILY BE AFFECTED BY SLUSH. IF CONDITIONS
DETERIORATE MORE THAN EXPECTED THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MAY BE
EXTENDED SOUTH TO INCLUDE THE DULUTH VICINITY.

9 PM CDT THIS EVENING...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DULUTH HAS ISSUED A WINTER
WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM THIS
MORNING TO 9 PM CDT THIS EVENING.

* LOCATION...THE MINNESOTA ARROWHEAD...INCLUDING TWO HARBORS...
  SILVER BAY...GRAND MARAIS...AND GRAND PORTAGE.

* TIMING...SNOW WILL MOVE INTO THE AREA BY MID MORNING AND
  CONTINUE INTO THE AFTERNOON. LATEST INFORMATION SUGGESTS AMOUNTS
  MAY NOT BE AS HIGH AS ORIGINALLY EXPECTED.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...2 TO 4 INCHES. ISOLATED HIGHER AMOUNTS IN
  THE HIGHER TERRAIN INLAND FROM LAKE SUPERIOR.


* WINDS/VISIBILITY...EAST AT 10 TO 20 MPH. THE WINDS WILL BE
  STRONGER NEAR LAKE SUPERIOR. VISIBILITY COULD OCCASIONALLY BE
  AS LOW AS ONE HALF OF A MILE.

* IMPACTS...TRAVEL COULD BE DIFFICULT DUE TO SLIPPERY ROADS FROM
  THE SNOW AND RAIN AND LOW VISIBILITY IN THE HEAVIER SNOW
  BANDS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW MEANS THAT ACCUMULATING SNOW
WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SNOW COVERED
ROADS AND REDUCED VISIBILITY...AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.
