URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW EXPECTED THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH MONDAY...

.AN ALBERTA CLIPPER IS FORECAST TO BRING A PERIOD OF ACCUMULATING
SNOW TO MINNESOTA AND NORTHWEST WISCONSIN TODAY THROUGH MONDAY.
WINDS WILL BE STRONG IN OPEN AREAS FROM THE BRAINERD LAKES TO THE
INTERNATIONAL BORDER RESULTING IN BLOWING SNOW AND REDUCED
VISIBILITIES THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT. THE WARM OPEN WATERS OF
LAKE SUPERIOR WILL ENHANCE SNOWFALL TOTALS ALONG THE SOUTH SHORE
TONIGHT THROUGH MONDAY...RESULTING IN LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS OF 3
TO 6 INCHES. AS WINDS TURN NORTHERLY ON MONDAY...BLOWING SNOW MAY
BE A CONCERN ALONG HIGHWAY 2 NEAR ASHLAND AND IN THE HIGHER
TERRAIN AREAS OF THE GOGEBIC RANGE.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DULUTH HAS ISSUED A WINTER
WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW...WHICH IS IN EFFECT
FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO 6 PM CST MONDAY.


* LOCATIONS...PORTIONS OF NORTHWEST WISCONSIN...INCLUDING THE
  CITIES OF WASHBURN...BAYFIELD...ASHLAND...MELLEN... HURLEY...AND
  MERCER.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...3 TO 6 INCHES.

* TIMING...SNOW WILL BEGIN LATE THIS AFTERNOON OVER BAYFIELD
  COUNTY AND QUICKLY SPREAD EAST ACROSS THE REMAINDER OF THE
  ADVISORY AREA. THE PERIOD OF MOST INTENSE SNOWFALL WILL BE FROM
  8 PM TONIGHT THROUGH 6 AM MONDAY.

* WINDS...NORTHWEST 10 TO 15 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 25 MPH.

* VISIBILITIES...REDUCED TO LESS THAN ONE MILE AT TIMES.

  INCREASE THIS AFTERNOON. THE PERIOD OF HEAVIEST SNOWFALL WILL BE
  THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH EARLY THIS EVENING.

* WINDS...NORTHWEST 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 35 MPH.
