Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior

For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior.

Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the
highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the
average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum.

.SYNOPSIS...A 30.0 inch high pressure ridge over the Prairie
Provinces will extend 29.8 inch ridging into the Upper Mississippi
Valley this afternoon. This ridge will build to 30.1 inches as it
shifts across the Upper Great Lakes tonight and Monday. On
Tuesday, the ridge at 30.2 inches will extend from Hudson Bay to
the Lower Great Lakes while deep low pressure of 29.1 inches lifts
northeast across the central Plains. This low will then weaken to
29.4 inches as it tracks to Wisconsin on Wednesday, and it will
weaken further to 29.7 inches as it moves over northern Ontario on
Thursday. In its wake, a 30.2 inch high pressure ridge will build
southeast across the Plains to the Mid-Mississippi Valley during
Thursday and Thursday night.

.MONDAY NIGHT...East winds 5 to 15 knots increasing to 15 to
25 knots after midnight. A slight chance of rain showers after
midnight. Waves building to 3 to 6 feet occasionally to 8 feet.
.TUESDAY...East winds 20 to 30 knots increasing to gales to
40 knots by mid afternoon. A chance of rain showers. Waves
building to 9 to 12 feet occasionally to 15 feet.
.TUESDAY NIGHT...East gales to 40 knots. Rain showers. Waves
subsiding to 8 to 11 feet occasionally to 14 feet.
.WEDNESDAY...Northeast gales to 35 knots becoming west 15 to
25 knots. Rain showers, then a chance of rain showers. Waves
subsiding to 2 to 4 feet.
