...River Statement For The Alabama River...


The Alabama River at Selma.
* At 8:30 AM CDT Tuesday the stage was 40.0 feet.
* Action stage is 30.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 45.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river is expected to fall below 30.0 feet on
  Thursday.
* Impact...At 45.0 feet...Extensive overflow of low lying lands in
  the area begins. Some low roads in the area begin to flood.


The Alabama River at Montgomery.
* At 8:30 AM CDT Tuesday the stage was 31.8 feet.
* Action stage is 26.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 35.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river is expected to fall below 26.0 feet on Friday.
* Impact...At 35.0 feet...Extensive flooding of low lands in the
  area occurs.


Another statement will be issued by Wednesday morning, or sooner if
conditions warrant.

Please stay tuned to NOAA Weather radio or your local media for
later statements concerning this event.

It is emphasized that these forecasts are based on rainfall that has
already occurred and on additional rainfall expected during the next
48 hours.  If more rainfall than is currently forecast occurs it may
become necessary to revise these forecasts upward.
