The isolated showers are expected to end in most areas by midnight. The gusty winds, which have been strongest in the Western Magic Valley (including Twin Falls and Jerome), have also weakened, but it will remain breezy to locally windy overnight. A low pressure system to our east will bring a 15-40 percent chance of showers to the higher elevations of SW Idaho on Wednesday. Gusty winds continue on Wednesday, although not as strong as today. Temperatures warm 5 to 15 degrees, yet still several degrees below normal. No updates. && .AVIATION...VFR. Sfc winds: W-NW 5-15 kt. && .PREV DISCUSSION... SHORT TERM...Tonight through Thursday night...Isolated convective showers are moving through much of southwest Idaho and southeast Oregon, featuring occasional mixed precipitation types down to the valley floor in some of the lower elevations. This activity, which is primarily diurnally driven, should subside around/after sunset. A backdoor cold front from the northern Rockies will lead to a somewhat meteorologically unusual pattern on Wednesday, with increasing northeasterly flow across the mountains of central Idaho bringing a modest increase in precipitation chances during the morning. There is some signal (15-20% probability) that a band of weak precipitation moves southwestward during the late morning across the Treasure and western Magic Valleys, along with an increase in cloudiness. Breezy conditions will also persist through these areas on Wednesday, albeit slightly weaker compared to Tuesday. By Thursday, a significant warmup will occur with temperatures approaching the low 70s in the lowest elevations, along with drier conditions and lighter winds. .LONG TERM...Friday through Tuesday...An upper level ridge will continue to build over the Pacific NW on Friday and will reach peak amplitude on Saturday. This pattern will bring warm and dry weather and light winds to southwestern Idaho and southeastern Oregon through the upcoming weekend with temperatures running 10 to 15 degrees above normal for this time of year. There is high confidence that the most locations in the Treasure Valley will see the first 80 degree temperatures of the year during the upcoming weekend with more than 90 percent of NBM members now indicating highs on Saturday and Sunday exceeding 80. The ridge is expected to flatten out a bit early next week and transition to a zonal westerly flow by Tuesday which will allow temperatures to cool slightly...though still remain above normal. && .BOI WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
