...NWS DAMAGE SURVEY FOR JUNE 16 2014 TORNADO EVENT...

.OVERVIEW...SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS MOVED ACROSS NORTHERN IOWA DURING
THE EVENING AND OVERNIGHT HOURS OF JUNE 16 2014. SEVERAL TORNADOES
LIKELY OCCURRED OVER NORTHERN IOWA ALONG WITH CONSIDERABLE WIND
DAMAGE AND HEAVY RAIN.

A NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SURVEY TEAM WAS SENT TO BUTLER...BREMER
AND EASTERN FRANKLIN COUNTIES TO EVALUATE DAMAGE. ADDITIONAL
TORNADO DAMAGE IS SUSPECTED IN OTHER NORTH CENTRAL IOWA COUNTIES.
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IS WORKING WITH COUNTY EMERGENCY
MANAGERS TO EVALUATE THE STORM DAMAGE IN THE THOSE AREAS AND
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION WILL BE PUBLISHED IN THE COMING DAYS.

THE SURVEY TEAM WILL BE CHECKING FOR DAMAGE NEAR GENEVA LATE THIS
AFTERNOON. ADDITIONAL TRACK INFORMATION MAY BE RELEASED PENDING
THE RESULTS.

TWO TORNADO TRACKS WERE FOUND NEAR CLARKSVILLE...IOWA ALONG WITH
THUNDERSTORM WIND DAMAGE. THUNDERSTORM WIND DAMAGE OCCURRED WEST
OF CLARKSVILLE AND IN CLARKSVILLE ITSELF. WIND SPEEDS WERE
ESTIMATED FROM 90 TO 110 MPH OR EQUIVALENT TO AN EF1 TORNADO.

SURVEY_SUMMARY: SAME STORM PRODUCED THE SECOND TORNADO A FEW
MINUTES AFTER THE FIRST TORNADO ENDED. IT PRODUCED EF1 DAMAGE WITH
THE MOST SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO A HOME EAST OF CLARKSVILLE.

EF SCALE: THE ENHANCED FUJITA SCALE CLASSIFIES TORNADOES INTO THE
FOLLOWING CATEGORIES.

EF0...WEAK......65 TO 85 MPH
EF1...WEAK......86 TO 110 MPH
EF2...STRONG....111 TO 135 MPH
EF3...STRONG....136 TO 165 MPH
EF4...VIOLENT...166 TO 200 MPH
