...NWS DAMAGE SURVEY FOR JUNE 30 2014 TORNADO EVENT...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DES MOINES CONDUCTED A DAMAGE
SURVEY OF THE AREAS HARDEST HIT BY STORMS ON JUNE 30 2014. THE
SURVEY TEAM FOUND THREE TORNADOES IN SOUTH CENTRAL AND EAST
CENTRAL IOWA AMONGST WIDESPREAD STRAIGHT LINE WIND DAMAGE. THE
STRONGEST TORNADO WAS RATED EF-2 IN THE TOWN OF TRAER. ADDITIONAL
REPORTS OF TORNADOES ON THAT DAY WILL CONTINUE TO BE INVESTIGATED
IN THE COMING DAYS.

START LOCATION: 3.9 MILES SOUTHEAST OF CASEY

END DATE:       JUNE 30 2014
END TIME:       1250 PM CDT
END LOCATION:   5.4 MILES SOUTH SOUTHWEST OF STUART

THIS TORNADO HAD AN INTERMITTENT SOUTHEASTWARD PATH AND PRODUCED
ITS WORST DAMAGE TOWARDS THE END OF ITS LIFE SOUTHWEST OF
STUART...WHERE A HOUSE AND SEVERAL OUTBUILDINGS WERE HEAVILY
DAMAGED OR DESTROYED. IT WAS HERE THAT THE TORNADO WAS RATED EF-1.

START LOCATION: 5.8 MILES NORTHEAST OF WINTERSET

END DATE:       JUNE 30 2014
END TIME:       114 PM CDT
END LOCATION:   5.5 MILES NORTHEAST OF WINTERSET

THIS BRIEF TORNADO DAMAGED A HOUSE AND SEVERAL TREES. IT TRACKED
SOUTHEAST BEFORE DISSIPATING IN AN OPEN FIELD.

PATH WIDTH /MAXIMUM/:   150 YARDS
FATALITIES: 0 INJURIES: 0

START DATE:     JUNE 30 2014
START TIME:     200 PM CDT
START LOCATION: 3.2 MILES NORTHWEST OF TRAER

END DATE:       JUNE 30 2014
END TIME:       210 PM CDT
END LOCATION:   0.5 MILES SOUTHEAST OF TRAER

THIS TORNADO FORMED NORTHWEST OF TRAER AND TRACKED SOUTHEASTWARD
INTO THE SOUTHERN SIDE OF TRAER. IT WAS HERE THAT LOW END EF-2
DAMAGE OCCURRED TO A HOUSE. THE TORNADO WEAKENED QUICKLY AND
DISSIPATED AS IT MOVED INTO THE SOUTHEAST SIDE OF TOWN.

FOLLOWING CATEGORIES.

EF0...WEAK......65 TO 85 MPH
EF1...WEAK......86 TO 110 MPH
EF2...STRONG....111 TO 135 MPH
EF3...STRONG....136 TO 165 MPH
EF4...VIOLENT...166 TO 200 MPH
EF5...VIOLENT...>200 MPH
